Curate Exercise
Collecting info from a variety of sources can lead to information overload. In order to keep information, materials and resources useful, you need to get rid of 'noise'. Newsletter, tweets, alerts that do not add to your knowledge base.
My advice to you - Manual curation - delete + unsubcribe
1. Cancel newsletters
2. Change alerts - add more key words to reduce 'junk'
3. Unfollow unproductive Twitterers
4. Use #keyword + select experts in Google Plus to follow, example #hotelmarketing
Advice -
Keep only sources that are valuable to your classes, your thesis topic or your job search.
Create your own Kiosk
There are a number of 'instant newspapers' that collect your selected sources in 1 kiosk. Choose one of the 2 platforms
1. set up your personalized content curation
- Post a link to your 'kiosk' in your blog
- Minimum of 3 sources
3. create a Slideshare
- Show us of all your filtered 'collection' points - take screenshots
- Google alerts
- Twitter account - showing those you follow
- 1 page of your Scoop.it or Paper.li
- AllTop page
- Create a Slideshare of 4 or 5 pages - here is an example of a very creative Slideshare
- Cover slide with your name + text link to your blog
- Put text notes on the screenshots to explain why you selected those experts + blogs + news sites
- Embed in your blog + share via your Google+
Mobile - if you want to collect news and information on your mobile - check out Flipboard
